NGO "Duško Jovanović" Foundation announces a


COMPETITION

for the awarding of the journalistic award "Duško Jovanović" in the field of investigative journalism in 2019.

 

Ø  The award was established in memory of Duško Jovanović, a brave journalist and a persistent pursuer of investigative journalism on the territory of Montenegro. By awarding a prize, we want to motivate journalists to make their contribution to fulfill the basic missions of the media, which is to point out in a professional, true and brave manner the problems of corruption, organized crime and issues of public interest.

Ø  The prize consists of the Charter of the Foundation and a cash fund of 10,000.00 EUR. The first prize is 5,000.00 EUR, the second is 3,000.00 EUR, and the third prize is 2.000,00 EUR.

Ø  The competition is open in the period from 1st of April 2019, until 30th of April 2019.

Ø  Journalists who have been publishing their works in the media (press, TV, radio, portal or electronic publication) in some of the countries of the former Yugoslavia, have the right to participate in the period from April 30th of 2015, until the April 30th of 2019.

Required documentation:

Ø research work written in one of the languages that are in official use in Montenegro (Montenegrin, Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian).

For print media, a scanned page of the media in which the text is published or a link through which the medium in which the text is accessed can be delivered. It is mandatory to see the logo of the newspaper, the author's signature and the date of publication. For TV / Radio / Online, a link is provided, through which the story can be viewed or played.

The maximum length of the attachment is 30 minutes. If the enclosure lasts longer, the author is obliged to shorten it, and the link of the entire attachment can be sent with other documentation.

Ø  confirmation of the media, signed by the editor or director, with information on when and where the attachment or the text was published (Application form and media confirmation form downloaded to the website of the foundation www.fondacija-duskojovanovic.com) The jury will decide on the award until May 15, and the award ceremony will be held on 27th of May 2019, at the anniversary day of the murder of Duško Jovanović.

for Dusko Jovanovic Journalism Award in the field of investigative journalism

  • The Award is established to honor the memory of Dusko Jovanovic, brave journalist and persistent enthusiast in the field of investigative journalism in Montenegro.
  • The Award is international and awarded every four years. It will be awarded for the second time on 27th May 2015.
  • The Award consists of the Foundation Charter and the prize fund of  20,000 €. The first prize is 10,000 €, the second prize is 6,000 € and the third prize is 4,000 €.
  • The right to suggest candidates for the Award Dusko Jovanovic belongs to media companies, scientific institutions, journalists’ organizations, non-governmental organizations, professional journalists and the students of the journalism from all around the world.
  • The Contest is open from 1st March – 30th April 2015. The submitted work must be published in the media no later than 30th April 2015.
  • Together with the application form, which can be downloaded from the website www.fondacija-duskojovanovic.com , applicants are required to submit 2 (two) copies of the work- one in their mother language and the other in one of the languages in official use in Montenegro (Montenegrin, Serbian, Croatian or Bosnian language).

If the candidate submits an article from the printed media, it is important that a logo of the newspaper, author’s name and the publication date are clearly seen on the photocopy or scanned article.

The forms of the application for the TV are DVD or VHS recording, and for the radio MP3 or audio cassette.

With the application for the TV or radio report, it is necessary to submit the verification signed by the editor or the director.

With the application form and the copies of the work it is necessary to attach the application letter with the following elements: the name of the article or the series of the articles as well as the name(s) of the journalist(s) who worked on them; the summary of the investigative journalism work; the topic and the synopsis of the story including the most important data that are discovered; the evaluation of the contribution to the cognition of the truth in some sphere of life; how the story started (a tip, a task, a personal initiative, etc.) ; the most important extractions and examples of the suggested investigative work; the note if someone doubted if the story is true – if it is the case an explanation is needed; the advice to other journalists who are planning similar projects; the detailed description of the used scientific methodology, in what way you verified the results of the methods you used, in what way those methods lead to the information, if you asked for help of the scientist- describe his/her engagement; the short biography of the candidate with the photo and the explanation of the candidature.

The candidates will be evaluated by the Jury consisting of one member – representative of the Foundation while other members will be renowned experts in the field of journalism. The jury will reach the decision on the Award until 15th May, and the Award Ceremony will be held on 27th May 2015, on the day of Dusko Jovanovic's murder.

za dodjelu novinarske nagrade „Duško Jovanović" iz oblasti istraživačkog novinarstva

 

  • Nagrada je ustanovljena u znak sjećanja na Duška Jovanovića, hrabrog novinara i istrajnog pregaoca istraživačkog novinarstva na prostoru Crne Gore.

  • Nagrada je međunarodna i dodjeljuje se svake četvrte godine, a 27. maja 2015. godine biće dodijeljena drugi put.

  • Nagradu čine Povelja Fondacije i novčani fond od 20.000 eura.
    Prvu nagradu čini novčani iznos od 10.000 eura, drugu novčani iznos od 6.000 eura, a treću nagradu novčani iznos od 4.000 eura.

  • Pravo predlaganja kandidata za nagradu „Duško Jovanović" imaju medijske kuće, naučne ustanove, novinarske organizacije, nevladine organizacije, profesionalni novinari i studenti istraživačkog novinarstva iz cijelog svijeta.

  • Konkurs je otvoren od 1.3. do 30. 4. 2015. godine. Prijavljeni rad mora biti objavljen u medijima najkasnije do tog datuma.

  • Uz prijavni formular, koji se može preuzeti na www.fondacija-duskojovanovic.com, potrebno je priložiti 2 (dva) primjerka rada - jedan na svom jeziku i jedan na jednom od jezika koji su u službenoj upotrebi u Crnoj Gori (crnogorski, srpski, hrvatski ili bošnjački).
    Ukoliko kandidat prilaže tekst iz štampanih medija važno je da se na fotokopiji ili skeniranom tekstu jasno vidi logo novina, potpis autora i datum objavljivanja.
    Forma prijave za TV je DVD ili VHS snimak, za radio MP3 ili audio-kaseta. Uz prijavu za TV i radio prilog potrebno je poslati i potvrdu koju je potpisao urednik ili direktor. Uz prijavni formular i primjerke rada, potrebno je priložiti i prijavno pismo sa sledećim elementima: naziv članka ili serije članaka, kao i ime(na) novinara koji su radili na njima; sažetak istraživačkog novinarskog rada; temu i sinopsis priče, uključujući najvažnije podatke; ocjenu doprinosa saznanju istine o određenoj oblasti društvenog života; kako je priča počela (dojava, zadatak, lična inicijativa i slično); najbitnije izvode i primjere iz predloženog istraživačkog rada, podatak da li je neko doveo u pitanje istinitost priče - ako jeste objasnite; savjet drugim novinarima koji planiraju slične projekte; detaljan opis korišćene naučne metodologije - kako ste potvrdili rezultate metoda koje ste koristili, na koji način su te metode dovele do informacija, da li ste tražili pomoć naučnika - opišite njegov angažman; kratku biografiju kandidata sa fotografijom i obrazloženje kandidature.

  •  Ocjenjivanje kandidata vršiće žiri u čijem će sastavu biti jedan član - predstavnik Fondacije, a ostali članovi biće renomirani poznavaoci oblasti novinarstva. Žiri će donijeti odluku o nagradi do 15. maja, a svečano uručenje nagrade biće 27.5.2015. godine, na dan ubistva Duška Jovanovića.
