Writes: Dusko JOVANOVIC, a representative in the Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro, (Friday 18th June 1999. “DAN”)
With the beginning of the aggression on our country the Montenegrin informative program is completely covered with the informative net of the aggressor.
The aggressor’s sources are base for informing Montenegrin citizens.
The Brussels’ “propaganda recommendations” take more informative space. The problem for them represents Televizija Srbije, which has been watched in Montenegro by the satellite, as well as Radio Beograd which has been very popular in Montenegrin informative program.
The citizens of Montenegro patriotic and half Yugoslavs, since the coalition “For a better life” has began to govern, have installed satellite antennas as they could see the program of Televizija Beograd aside the domestic and Italian programs.
Since the coalition “For a better life” began to govern in Montenegro there has been the complete censure of any kind of program from RTS, so people could see two Italian programs but they couldn’t watch programs from Serbia. “The Montenegrin democracy” couldn’t bare them.
The citizens of Montenegro should not be deprived of any information no matter if they are “politically colloured”. Everyone individually has the right to decide which information he or she would believe. The official Montenegro has overtaken completely the informative net of the aggressor, since the beginning of the aggression. It was rewarded for that by the aggressor in that way that it gained the money for opening the satellite television line. At the beginning there was four hours of program very soon six hours in the case that it continued to be so “pro-European” it would get 24 hours.
As RTS had not accepted the ultimatum to emit the part of program in “aggressor’s” assortment it was punished. First RTS was bombed and almost all transmitters were ruined, then it was tuned off the satellite, that mostly made damage to the Montenegrin citizens.
The only window towards Serbia for Montenegrin citizens was Radio Beograd if we didn’t count the newspapers. However the incumbent Montenegrin government was trying to seize even that using different obstacles.
Those obstacles were installed in Berane, Pljevlja, Niksic and Podgorica, so you could listen the Radio Beograd without any problems in Africa but not in Podgorica.
Than the journalist took their turn for the repression.
The Montenegrin government was in disposition for the journalists from the aggressors’ countries; they gave them escort, even armed one, they provide transport and luxurious hotels.
Unlike them a journalist from “Politika” was arrested in Podgorica for what he had written. After more than 30 years of work he represented “obstruction” of the reformed “development” of Montenegro.
The journalist of “Politika” wasn’t arrested in London, or Washington, or Brussels. He was arrested in Podgorica. The reason was analyzing of the West-European “tour” of Milo Djukanovic, published in “Politika” with the underline “Djukanovic on the NATO’s wings”.
It bothered to the incumbent Montenegrin government publishing that Milo Djukanovic used the airport in Dubrovnik for visiting of the aggressor’s European countries.
Just few days before this event, in conversation with Jacques Chirac, French president, Milo Djukanovic “complained” to his collocutor that the official Belgrade allegedly tried to turn off the public information in Montenegro.
The journalist from “Politika” in his story, which was the reason for the arresting, was right could be seen very soon, after Milo Djukanovic had come back form his west-European tour.
Using Croatian terrestrial as well as the air space, and probably some other services was paid by releasing Antun Masle.
Further solutions were very well known to the Montenegrin and Yugoslav public. Antun Masle who was guarded by the Montenegrin civil police “run away spectacularly”, actually he “walked” till the border, passed it and now he is resting with his family.
It is hard that anyone in Montenegro can believe in this story. An indictment has been issued against the incumbent Montenegrin government. It hasn’t been done by the Hague Tribunal; it has been done by itself. The proceeding, which has begun, will last.
The coalition layers will have a lot of work, but it is impossible to defend something that cannot be defended.
These were small parts of the evidences about the incumbent Montenegrin government’s support to the NATO aggressor.
Just not to forget.
THE END
